A set of studies reveals that fewer than 10% of Americans are ‘attentive’ to events in the world of science and technology. Another 10% are ‘inattentive,’ and unlikely to take any new interest in science and technology. The remaining majority of Americans may be considered ‘pre-attentive,’ able and willing to discover science and technology if it were presented to them on their own terms. For the ‘pre-attentive’ majority, television, radio, Internet, and newsprint, --though limited and often incomplete-- supercede all areas of traditional higher learning as the most relied upon sources of information about our scientific world.

Most agree that the quality of media output leaves much to be desired. In the current climate of sensationalism, the coverage of technological achievement is, when addressed at all, dominated by headlines showing the consequences. Media  routinely paints unflattering pictures of the men and women of technology, often showing them to be pre-occupied ‘super-intellectuals’, rather than the dedicated professionals they are.

America’s efforts to develop technology interest a wide demographic of viewers ranging from school age children to retirees. The series TECHNOLOGY ! can serve to excite such a diverse audience and heighten their awareness of technological development.

The series will show that new technologies have made profound improvements to our quality of life. TECHNOLOGY !  explains the science behind the important discoveries made in recent years. But most of all, the series impressively presents the benefits gained that have improved our overall quality of life.

Viewers want to know much more about why technology is important for them.  Many seek justification.  TECHNOLOGY ! will touch and meaningfully affect viewers providing them with engaging, exciting and important stories linking science and new technologies directly to their lives.

For many viewers, the program will cause them to see high tech with new eyes and appreciate for the first time how important it is for our future. As the TECHNOLOGY ! series will reveal, new technology research and development  continues to make our lives better and healthier.
